Progress Of A Large Project

I didn't take photos of this massive blank wall, before I started work on the mural. It is 25' high by 22' wide. Simply painted a Pea Green color when I began. The upfront process started in April, when I worked with the clients to determine a theme, or image for the wall. They had a few beautiful photos of the dawn sunlight pouring onto the blank wall from 3 windows on the adjacent wall and that became the inspiration for the sketches.....

Thursday, August 4, 2005 - Norm & I constructed the scaffold. The doorway to the kitchen proposed a challenge in that the step up from the living room prevented us from putting the scaffold against the wall where we needed it to be. A 30' ladder is used next to the scaffold as you will see in the photo below  from day 7 through day 9. The heavy detail work needed to be done by straddling between the ladder and the scaffold.

Friday, August 5, 2005 - Layout of 3 windows to reflect the 3 windows on the adjacent wall.

Saturday, August 6, 2005 - Primer and base white paint is applied.

Sunday, August 7, 2005 - The sky and clouds are detailed and the brickwork is laid in.

Monday, August 8, 2005 = Bricks are detailed and shading is applied.

Tuesday, August 9, 2005 - Woodwork on molding is laid in.

Wednesday, August 10, 2005 - molding is detailed and completed. The scaffold is moved and the next window is sketched in with brickwork laid in.

Thursday, August 11, 2005 - Brickwork and sky/clouds are laid in.

Friday, August 12, 2005 - Window 2 is done (except for some minor tune up work to be done after window 3 is completed. Scaffold moves to last of the 3 windows. Bricks are completed and sky is laid in.

Saturday, August 13, 2005 - Window 3 is done, window 2 is tuned up and the scaffold comes down.
